• You need a better MoviePlayer to see more details from a movie?
• You need an instrument to move inside the image contents of a movie?
• You want to see only a crop of a movie?
Try this: LUTUS
You can navigate with Lutus. It's very simple. Launch the application and open a movie or move a QuickTime movie at Lutus. If you press the mouse button inside the window you can move the picture segment. The mouse sign indicates the current direction. If you press the SHIFT key you can zoom in, or zoom out with the OPTION key.
• With "grid sense" you can navigate the picture if you click the mouse at the corner areas.
• With "move sense" you can navigate the picture if you move the pressed mouse.

Enjoy it and have fun - it's not QuickTime VR but another way to make more with QuickTime and existing movies at an Apple Macintosh™. It's fantastic to see details or to watch special parts of the movie.
But know:
• drag and drop movies from or to Lutus is disabled
• playing QuickTime Instrument sound only files is disabled
• you can't double click into the movie to start or normal click to stop a movie. Please use the play/pause button or press the space bar
• don't use a movie with a very small size (100 x 100)
• if you have problems to use more than one movie at once try to increase the memory settings (e.g. 2048kByte)
• the default settings of Lutus will be saved inside your Preferences Folder
• Use a Macintosh with System 7.1 or newer, QuickTime 1.5 or up installed. For better navigation performance use a 68040 or a Power Macintosh. Don't use QuickTime version 1.6 (only 1.5, 1.6.x, 2.x and up).
The navigation performance will be decreased:
• if the movie compression is with key and diff frames
• if the color depth is very different from the movie colors
• if you play many movies beside
• if you are running other application with big CPU-hungry (e.g. Word)
NOTE:
• If Lutus is the only foreground program and you don't need much background task select the menu "Movie Quick Control" for faster navigation. Until the mouse navigates the movie controller doesn't update.
• Each marked menu items are connected with a movie in the active window. So you can use different settings for your opened movies.
